Mission Statement

The Senate Research Committee was created in 2015 to focus on issues related to all research and scholarship performed at the University of Pittsburgh. The Senate Research Committee works with and advises all research related offices and Departments at the University of Pittsburgh including those within the Provost’s area and the Health Sciences. The responsibilities of the committee will include: 1) examining policies and procedures relevant to research such as intellectual property, conflict of interest and others; 2) examining research operations, research regulation and compliance procedures and providing advice on the implementation of new and existing procedures; 3) providing support to faculty, staff and students on issues related to the conduct of their research and scholarship; and 4) assisting the University Senate in its provision of advice and recommendations about research-related issues to the senior administration, faculty, staff, and students of the University.
