Mission Statement

The Senate Research Committee was created in 2015 to focus on issues related to all research and scholarship performed at the University of Pittsburgh. The Senate Research Committee works with and advises the office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research concerning all research activities at the University. The responsibilities of the committee will include: 1) examining policies and procedures relevant to research such as intellectual property, conflict of interest and others; 2) examining research operations and infrastructure, research regulation and compliance procedures and providing advice on the implementation of new and existing procedures; 3) providing support and guidance to faculty, staff and students on issues related to the conduct of their research and scholarship; 4) promoting diversity, equity and inclusion across the research enterprise; and 5) assisting the University Senate in its provision of advice and recommendations about research-related issues to the senior administration, faculty, staff, and students of the University.
