The Middle States Commission on Higher Education invites you to one of its forthcoming Town Hall meetings. The purpose of this new series of MSCHE Town Hall meetings is to obtain reaction and feedback from member institutions on the draft revisions to Characteristics of Excellence: Standards for Accreditation. Town Halls are scheduled for February 26 in the Baltimore, MD area; March 13 in Albany, NY; March 21 in Pittsburgh, PA; and March 27 in Philadelphia, PA.
For the past nine months a special Steering Committee appointed by the Commission has been working to revise the 14 accreditation standards. This process has included “listening sessions” with higher education leaders from across the country, Town Halls throughout the Middle States region, and a presentation at the Commission’s Annual Conference. The result has been the development of a draft containing seven accreditation standards. The draft was shared electronically in mid-December and can be found here.
This next series of Town Halls will seek member feedback regarding the proposed revisions. The goal is to present final revisions to the Commission at its June 2014 meeting, followed shortly thereafter by voting among the chief executive officers of MSCHE member institutions.
Each Town Hall will begin with continental breakfast at 9:00 am, followed by the presentations and open discussion at 10:00 am. We expect to conclude by 12:00 Noon.
